Arthur C. Clarke : A Life in Pictures - Part One

In this pictures section i've posted a series of pictures found on the web showing Arthur C. Clarke at different moments of his life. That said, let's start by Arthur C. Clarke early years and the picture below shows him with his mother and family, circa 1929. Arthur Clarke is the one right behind his mother.

In the 1930's The London Science Fiction Association "stalwarts" at Leeds in January of 1937 for the first ever SF convention. Arthur C. Clarke stands in the middle.

A rare picture - may be the only one - of Arthur C. Clarke with his wife Marilyn Mayfield, a 22-year-old American divorcee with a young son. They met on a trip to Florida in 1953 and separated permanently after six months, although the divorce was not finalised until 1964.

Arthur C. Clarke with Mike Wison and Mike Wilson's future wife actress Elizabeth Perera. Mike Wison arrived in Sri Lanka - at that time Ceylon - Ceylon with Arthur C. Clarke in 1956. The circumstances surrounding their friendship, and the manner in which fate brought them to Ceylon, is told in Arthur C. Clarke's The Treasure of the Great Reef (1964 and 1974).
